Very disappointed in this purchase. The Apple pencil was almost $100 more than my previous purchase of a $34 off brand stylus pen. Price doesn't always mean better product.
The only advantage is the ability to plug the stylus into the iPad's lightning port for a quick charge otherwise I would send it back.
Pros:
- Can be plugged into the iPad's lightning port for quick charge on the go
- Comes with extra tip and gender changer for charger

Cons:
- Grossly over priced ( I feel ripped off)
- Doesn't have an indicator to tell you if it's charged up or not
- The pen doesn't have a flat to prevent it rolling off a surface. My of brand stylus does.
- The little cap and gender changer is easy to lose. You'd think for $100+ Apple would give you a little pouch or container for these? Perhaps these could be designed so they stay attached to the pencil?

Is an actual Apple pen however is not new: box was not wrapped in the traditional clear plastic, box was damaged - even the item label was peeling - and the contents were also open (the charger adapter was loose in the box) The pen was faulty, no charging more than 3% - after several tries I was able to capture a picture of the serial number (by going for settings >about ) but died immediately after.

Apple customer representative confirmed the serial number was a valid serial number.

Amazon customer service typical response - 'we are sorry, print return label and go to the post office and mailed back to us'.

Very disappointed with Amazon: I get sometimes new items are defective however selling damaged, used or refurbished items as new is just wrong.

Bought this because it was on sale (would've bought via BestBuy if not) and was worried about the legitimacy of the seller, especially because they didn't ship until a couple days after the order was placed (the order said it would arrive in a few days after I placed it). It arrived the day after it shipped, which was on time for the estimated delivery date.

Works with my iPad (6th generation), the charging is easy, I am happy with the function and quality. A little annoying that it doesn't come with a holder or something for the small parts - you could easily lose things and I've heard about how annoying (and costly) it is to replace them. Something to keep in mind if you purchase.

This absolutely is a genuine generation one Apple Pencil. Like most Apple products it works flawlessly with the products, and coupled with the textured screen protector he's just like drawing on paper. I have been learning to draw and I am impressed with the amount of detail that is possible with this. Another additional feature that I have been quite enjoying is the ability to write normally in cursive or even printing, and it automatically gets convertible to text. Often I am able to write out faster what I intend then playing with the keyboard. I also like that I can draw things and draw on pictures as opposed to trying to explain it to people. Picked it up when it was on sale briefly during the holidays, but now it's back up to the normal price which is almost $30 more then I picked it up for, but awesome as others have noted Apple products really go on sale, and if they do not by much.

I was a bit skeptical because I got this on sale and Apple products never go on sale, but it's the real deal! Pairs to the iPad really quickly via bluetooth, and the tilt/pressure sensitivity works perfectly. I don't know exactly how long it lasts but it's gotten me through lectures and study sessions without a problem (so at least a couple of hours of constant use). Takes around 10-15 minutes to charge and it only drains 1-2% of my iPad's battery. Way nicer than an off brand stylus so definitely get it if you catch it for $30 off!
